Welcome to the TwoAxis Finance documentation. This guide explains the key financial concepts used in the app and how different entries interact with the Transactions list β your master record of all money flow.
An asset is something you own that has value. This could be cash, a bank account balance, crypto holdings, etc.
A liability is money you owe to others β loans, credit card debt, or anything youβre expected to pay in the future.
β When you make a payment toward a liability, it gets recorded in the Transactions list.
A receivable is money that someone owes you. This could be a loan you gave a friend, unpaid freelance work, or anything expected to come in.
β When you receive a receivable (i.e., they pay you back), it gets recorded as a Transaction.
Income is any money that you earn β salary, freelance payments, investments, etc.
β When you get paid, a Transaction is automatically created.
A bill is a recurring expense you pay regularly β rent, internet, gym, etc.
β Every time a bill is paid, it shows up in Transactions.
An expense is a one-time cost β food, transportation, shopping, etc.
β Adding a one-time expense also adds a new Transaction.
The Transactions list is where all the action happens. It records every inflow and outflow of money. Hereβs what automatically adds a transaction:
| Action | Adds Transaction? |
|---|---|
| Paying a liability | β Yes |
| Receiving a receivable | β Yes |
| Getting paid (income) | β Yes |
| Paying a bill | β Yes |
| Adding a one-time expense | β Yes |
Each transaction includes the amount, category, date, and the related account/entry.
